1. Awareness building

MDSSS believes that positive social change can be brought in through awareness building in the right manner. As the target group with which MDSSS works is highly deprived, oppressed, illiterate and ignorant, the organization focuses on creating awareness on various social issues, so that the community is able to understand the reason behind their backwardness and learn ways to avail their rights,entitlements and facilities.

2. Women empowerment

Our organization focuses on empowerment of women as they are the main pillars of the family.The status of women and girls in Bihar is very low and they are deprived of the basic rights of dignity, nutritious food, education, right to expression etc. Therefore the organization works for the upliftment and empowerment of women in the region.

3. Formation and promotion of CBOs

CBOs play a vital role in social development.Therefore, our organization prefers to work and strengthen various CBOs such as mother's groups, adolescent groups, farmer groups, children's parliaments, task forces, SHGs etc. Our organization, with the help of these CBOs has been able to create awareness amongst the masses, has been able to motivate the masses to stand up for their rights and entitlements and has also been able to decrease the level of social evils in the society.

4. Livelihood promotion

The organisation has been working in the field of resilient livelihood especially in the disaster prone areas. It has also been working with the SHGS and linking them with Jeevika projects for supportive livelihood for the deprived families.

5. Health initiatives

Our organization has been organizing various health camps, immunization camps, health awareness programs and liasoning programs between the community and health workers from time to time, with special focus on children, pregnant women and the aged.

  • Enrolment of pregnant women in anganwadi for immunization and vaccination of both mother and child
  • Enrolment of pregnant women in hospitals for safe delivery

6. Initiatives related to education

MDSSS has been running Non Formal Education centers for the past many yeas for deprived and needy children of the community.The children are enrolled in these centers and then prepared for formal schooling and enrolled in local schools.The diocese has also been providing books and stationary as and when required.
